Luis Miguel Vega, General Manager of the Peruvian Blueberry Growers and Exporters Association Proar á danos, stated that as of the 38th week of this year (September 24th), Peru's blueberry exports decreased by 52% compared to the same period in the 2022/23 production season, totaling 56,351 tons. The El Niño phenomenon has had a significant impact on the export of Peruvian blueberries to all destinations this season. Among them, exports to the United States experienced the largest decline, with a decrease of 65%. Exports to Europe decreased by 54%, China decreased by 38%, and the UK decreased by 31%.

It is expected that by the end of October, the export value of Peruvian blueberries will be 40%-50% lower than the same period last year. There may be some recovery in the next few months, but it is still difficult to predict the specific situation.
