Recently, Italian customs seized approximately 20,000kg of imported almond from the United States at ports in the Liguria region.

According to Fanpage, Italian customs officials have seized a shipment of California almond imported from the United States at the Vado Ligure port in the Savona province of the Liguria region. The shipment weighed approximately 20,000kg. After collaborating with multiple laboratories for testing, customs personnel discovered problems with the extensive proliferation of parasites and molds in this batch of goods. The importer of the goods subsequently appealed to the local administrative court. The investigators believed that the import declaration documents described the goods as "for human consumption" and did not mention the requirement for "further processing". Secondly, the degree of product deterioration has exceeded the maximum limit.

In the end, the court rejected the importer's lawsuit. The shipment of almond has been banned from being sold on the market.
