Turkey is the largest producer and exporter of hazelnuts in the world, accounting for approximately 70% of global output and 75% of global exports. The US Department of Agriculture predicts that the hazelnut output in Turkey will decline to 600,000 tons in the 2023/24 season. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) predicted that the output would reach 730,000 tons, while another forecast indicated that the output would be 718,000 tons. However, market sources believe that this figure is relatively high, and it is understood that the production during the harvest period did not meet expectations.
