According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Chittagong Hills region currently produces about 20% of Bangladesh's total fruit production. With the spread of agricultural machinery, modern irrigation systems and improved varieties, the Chittagong Hill tracts have been transformed from backward traditional agriculture to modern agriculture.
