The Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) recently released a report saying that in the first half of 2024, Cambodia's raw cashew exports exceeded 545,000 tons, an increase of 50%. Exports of processed cashews were 87.90 tons, down 87% year-on-year.

Notably, agricultural products contributing to export growth include rice, fresh cassava, tapioca flour, cashews, corn, fresh lentils, fresh mangoes and pepper. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, countries that buy more agricultural products include Vietnam (rice, fresh cassava, cashew nuts, fresh mangoes and pepper), Thailand (fresh cassava and fresh mangoes), China (tapioca, fresh longan and fresh mangoes) and South Korea (fresh mangoes).

Ministry spokesman Im Rachna told reporters that the largest market for Cambodia's raw cashews remains Vietnam, but exports have declined slightly after an increase in domestic processing. A few years ago, almost 99% of our raw cashews were exported to foreign markets, especially Vietnam, but so far, the proportion of raw cashews exported to foreign markets (not just Vietnam) has dropped to 90%.

Uon Silot, director of the Cambodian Cashew Association (CAC), told reporters that this year, cashew production (RCN) is expected to reach 850,000 tons, exports 750,000 tons, and export foreign exchange earnings of more than $1 billion, while global cashew production may fall by 30%.
