Romania's agricultural economy accounts for 6% of the EU's in 2023

In 2023, the agricultural output value of Romania will reach 16.6 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 14%, ranking second in the EU in terms of growth rate, second only to Portugal, accounting for 6% of the EU's agricultural output value. Romania is the seventh largest agricultural producer in Europe, ranked as follows: France (53.6 billion euros), Italy (37.7 billion euros), Germany (36.5 billion euros), Spain (36.1 billion euros), Poland (18.1 billion euros), and the Netherlands (16.8 billion euros). Currently, Luo has approximately 2 million farms, of which 93.7% have an annual income of less than 8000 euros. According to data from the European Commission, Romania is the largest exporter of grains (wheat and barley) to the European Union in the first two months of 2024-2025.
