On December 2, the General Administration of Customs issued an announcement on the inspection and quarantine requirements for Peruvian Pecan to be exported to China, allowing the import of Peruvian blueberries that meet the requirements.
Peru's Pecan planting area is close to 3,500 hectares, 70% of which are concentrated in the Ica region, and the harvest time is from July to September every year. Peru's production of Pecan are mainly used for export, the destination is concentrated in Asia, the United States and Europe, Hong Kong, China is currently Peru's most important export object in Asia.
Announcement shows that the import of Peruvian planted by the territory of the Pecan (Carya illinoinensis) ripe fruit as raw materials, through the selection, drying and other processes in Peru made of shelled or unshelled nuts available for human consumption.
Peruvian nuts exported to China shall not contain quarantine pests of concern to China, such as leaf moth and whitefly, live insects, insect eggs, soil, weed seeds, plant residues, metal foreign bodies, gravel and other impurities.
The whole process of planting, producing, processing, storing, transporting and exporting raw materials of Peruvian Pecan to China shall comply with the relevant food safety and phytosanitary requirements of China and Peru, and prevent contamination by disease-causing microorganisms or toxic and harmful substances.
