Zimbabwe exports of macadamia reached 7,628 tons in January-September 2024, a 62% increase from the same period in 2020, according to the Zimbabwe National Statistics Office (ZimStats). The Zim Macadamia Producers Association (ZMPA) said the increase in exports was mainly due to the expansion of planted areas and trees reaching maturity.
Despite the significant increase in export volume, macadamia nut (unpeeled) prices fell 62 percent to $1.09 per kilogram from $2.91 per kilogram in 2020, and macadamia revenues fell 39 percent to $8.35 million from $13.72 million in 2020.The price of macadamia fell to the lowest level in 20 years in the 2022/23 season, mainly due to the supply outstripping demand in the U.S. and European markets.
