The Côte d'Ivoire Cotton and Cashew Commission (Côte d'Ivoire Cotton and Cashew Commission) has recently signed an agreement with the Société générale de développement des infrastructures industrielles de la Côte d'Ivoire (SOGEDI) for the transfer of management of three cashew industrial zones to formalize their partnership, which will mark the beginning of the implementation of a plan for transforming the cashew industry in the country. The agreement aims to increase the processing capacity of the country's agricultural products and will see the development of cashew industrial zones in Korhogo, Bondoukou and Séguéla, with a total infrastructure area of more than 50 hectares, which is expected to allow the production and processing of 150,000 tons of cashews, starting in 2026, thus increasing the industry's added value and reducing its dependence on the export of raw materials. The project will help to strengthen the sector's competitiveness and increase its international presence, in the framework of the National Strategy for the Processing of Raw Materials, which foresees the local processing of cashew nuts in the country reaching 50 per cent by 2030.
