Turkey's hazelnut exports surge:

According to the Black Sea Exporters' Association, weekly hazelnut exports reached 6,674 tons in the period February 17-23, up 33 percent from 5,003 tons in the same period last year. Aggressive purchasing by Ferrero was one of the reasons driving the increase in export volumes, especially during Valentine's Day when it announced its purchase of hazelnuts, further stimulating the market. Indian market has high growth potential

The MEWA Nut and Dried Fruit Show in India and the Gulf Food Trade Fair in Dubai significantly raised the profile of the Indian market. Many exporters predict that India will become another important market after China. exports to India reached a record 909 tons in 2024, up 24% from 2023. The Black Sea Exporters' Association (BSEA) furthered its market expansion by partnering with the Nut and Dried Fruit Council of India (NDFCI) to showcase the unique advantages of Turkish hazelnuts at MEWA India.

Limited impact of Ferrero purchases in 2015

On February 14, Ferrero began purchasing 13-15mm raw hazelnuts at a price of between TL 285-290/kg, with an expected purchase volume of 4,500-5,000 tons. However, Ferrero's purchases have had a limited impact on market prices, but the overall market outlook remains optimistic. The continued depreciation of the Turkish lira has also had a balancing effect on the market, with current market demand remaining at normal levels.
