Vietnam's agroforestry and aquatic products export value up 13% in Q1 2025

     Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that in March 2025, Vietnam's exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products amounted to about 6.14 billion U.S. dollars, putting Vietnam's exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first quarter of 2025 at 15.72 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 13.1 percent year-on-year, the Viet Nam News Agency reported. The trade surplus of agricultural, forestry and fishery products amounted to 4.4 billion USD, down 13.1% year-on-year.
 
  Among them, the export value of agricultural products reached 8.53 billion USD, up 12.2% year-on-year; the export value of livestock products reached 131 million USD, up 18.5%; the export value of aquatic products reached 2.29 billion USD, up 18.1%; and the export value of forest products reached 4.21 billion USD, up 11.2% .
 
  In terms of commodity categories, forest products, aquatic products and agricultural products realized a trade surplus of 3.54 billion U.S. dollars (up 9.1%), 1.51 billion U.S. dollars (up 14.1%) and 1.48 billion U.S. dollars (up 16.9%) respectively.
 
  The three commodity groups with the highest trade surpluses included: timber and wood products (surplus of US$3.29 billion, up 9.3%); coffee (surplus of US$2.79 billion, up 48.3%); and shrimp (surplus of US$792.6 million, up 36%).
 
  In terms of export markets, in the first quarter, the Asian market accounted for the largest share of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products at 42%. They were followed by America (22.5%) and Europe (16.6%), respectively. Compared to the same period last year, in the first quarter of 2025, the export value of Vietnam's agro-forestry and fishery products to Asia, America, Europe, Africa and Oceania is expected to increase by 2%, 15.7%, 37.8%, 110% and 0.8% respectively.
 
  In the first three months of 2025, Vietnam's coffee exports amounted to 509,500 tons, down 12.9%; export value was $2.88 billion, up 49.5%.
 
  Rubber export volume reached 396,100 tons, down 4.4%; export value was US$765.8 million, up 26.1%. China is Vietnam's largest rubber consumer market, with a market share of 73.7%. It is followed by India and Indonesia, up 3.8% and 3.2% respectively.
 
  Cashew exports amounted to 121,400 tons, down 19.3%; export value of $ 841.1 million, up 4.3%.
 
  Rice exports amounted to 2.2 million tons, up 0.6 percent; export value reached $1.14 billion, down 19.7 percent. The Philippines is Vietnam's largest rice sales market, with a market share of 42.1%. It is followed by Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana with 16.3% and 10.2% respectively.
 
  In the first quarter of 2025, fruit and vegetable exports amounted to US$1.14 billion, down 11.3% from the same period in 2024. Vietnam's fruits and vegetables were mainly exported to the Chinese market, accounting for 44.5% of the export value.
 
  Tea products exported 27,300 tons, up 3%; export value 44.4 million USD, up 2.7%.
