Recently, the General Administration of Customs released on the official website on the Zambian macadamia exported to China inspection and quarantine requirements of the announcement, allowing Zambian macadamia nuts to meet the requirements of the import.

Zambian macadamia  allowed to be imported refers to macadamia nuts (macadamia) (Macadamia integrifolia) planted in Zambia as raw materials, in Zambia through the drying, selection and other processing technology made for human consumption of macadamia nuts with shells or shells.

The announcement requires that macadamia exported from Zambia to China shall not bear the quarantine pests of concern to China such as apple anomaly moth, brown anomalous grain borer, grain mottle borer and big grain borer, etc.; they shall not bear the live insects, insect eggs and soil, and they shall not be mixed with impurities such as weed seeds, plant residues, metal foreign bodies and gravel.

On March 31, China and Zambia signed an agreement to import macadamia . The agreement is an important outcome of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in Beijing in September last year, when China announced its commitment to zero tariff treatment for 100% of the tariff lines of products from all least developed countries (LDCs) with which it has diplomatic relations, including Zambia.

Zambia's macadamia industry is small but growing rapidly, with most of its production coming from large commercial farms. Macadamia nuts grown in Zambia are mainly exported, with exports reaching almost zero 10 years ago and reaching over 1,900 tons of shell nut exports by 2023, with production of about 2,000 tons in the same year.

Judging by the growing trend in exports and imports of Zambian seedlings, Zambian macadamia production is expected to grow at an even higher rate over the next five years. production will likely reach 6,000-7,000 tons in 2028 and close to 10,000 tons in 2030.The production of macadamia nuts in Zambia is expected to grow at an even higher rate over the next five years.
