On June 25, 2025, Thailand issued Addendum Circular No. G/SPS/N/THA/216/Add.4. According to the Circular, the Draft Notice of Thailand's Agricultural Standard “Peanut Kernels: Maximum Residue Limits for Aflatoxins” was published in the Royal Gazette on June 17, 2025, with an effective date of June 18, 2025, and the Notice on Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Measures for Importation of Peanut Kernels from Foreign Countries, which was issued on July 8, 2024, is hereby repealed.
The inspection measures for imported peanut kernels are categorized into three levels based on the control of the exporting country, such as monitoring inspection and batch testing. If the analytical results of peanut kernels do not meet the standard, the National Agency for Agricultural and Food Standards shall require the importer to take corrective measures for the noncompliant product, such as improving the quality, returning the product to the country of origin, or destroying it, and shall list the foreign producers and exporters that have been notified by the importer through the TAS licensing system.
In addition, the Agency shall suspend the issuance of import receipt confirmations (TAS 8-1) until the competent authority of the country concerned submits a report on the corrective measures taken to improve the standards control system, which must be approved by the Agency.
