The latest report released by Oil World, the trade journal of Hamburg, Germany shew that in the year of 2013/2014, Romania will become the world biggest exporter of sunflower seeds, because of the increase in the production of sunflower seeds, the government will not impose tariffs for the time being.

Oil World said that in the years of 2013/2014 (from August to July of the next year), the export volume of Romanian sunflower seeds may increase from 0.767 million tons in the last year to 1.05 million tons.

In 2013, Romania has harvested 1.95 million tons of sunflower seeds that is higher than 1.4 million tons in the last year. As the domestic processing capacity is limited, Romania may export excess supply to other countries.

Oil World also said, Romanian government does not take any restrictions to the exports of sunflowers, so the exports of sunflower seeds of  Romania are more competitive than the those of Ukraine and Russia.

Oil World predicted that in the year of 2013/2014, Romanian export volume of sunflower seeds to non-EU states will be sharply increased from 0.167 million tons in the last year to 0.5 million tons. From August to October in 2013, Romania has exported 0.186 million tons of sunflower seeds to Pakistan, by contrast, the same period of last year is zero.
