There are hundreds kinds of food additives approved by EU countries. According to the reports of foreign media, the behaviors of the abuse of food additives not only are not convergent, but also are more serious in the past 10 years. In view of this, EFSA is proposed to make review to the long-term safety of the approved hundreds of food additives once in order to protect the interests of consumers.
EFSA expert group have made evaluation again to several food pigment products that were specially noted in the relevant medical reports and applied widely in European food industry such as curcumin (the EU approval code is E122), brown HT (E155), azorubin (E122), eosin AC (E120), brilliant black BN (E151), quinoline yellow (E104), and sunset yellow (E110), and the expert group published the list of safe food additives.
It was reported that EFSA also will aim at the pigment and other additives in drinks and other products of mass consumption and strengthen the sampling inspection of the products .
