According to FSANZ, food standards Notification Circular 07–14 was published on 2 May 2014, including one application, two proposals and the amendment of Food Standards Code.
The main contents of the Circular are as follows:
An opportunity to comment one application will be available at a later date which will be publicly notified. A1096 - to approve a genetically modified strain of Bacillus licheniformis as a source for the enzyme xylanase for use in the bread-making industry;
An opportunity to comment two proposals will be available at a later date which will be publicly notified:
P1031 - to allow for specific exemptions from allergen declarations for glucose syrups from wheat starch, fully refined soy oil, soy derivatives (tocopherols and phytosterols), and distilled alcohol from wheat or whey;
P1032 - to make minor amendments including the correction of typographical errors, inconsistencies and formatting issues and updating of references;
Amendment No. 147 to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code approved transgenosis alfalfa from Monsanto used in food.
