The "International Codex Alimentarius Commission", which is responsible for setting international food standards, held its 2014 annual conference in Geneva from July 14th  to July 18th , about 700 members from 170 countries attended the meeting. High on the agenda is to pass a series of new international food safety standards, so as to ensure that consumers have access to safe, high-quality food, while at the same time ensuring fair global food trade.
