During investigation in Ziguinchor, Senegal, Roget Brue, the Chairman of Africa Cashew Nuts Manufacturer Association, appealed to all cashew nuts production countries in Africa to improve export added value of products.

Brue said that about 2.5 million ton cashew nuts are produced in the world every year. Africa is the main origin of world cashew nuts, but the annual output is only 1.4 million ton, accounting for 45% of world output. The cashew nuts products export processing rate is only 5%, having a large gap with the 95% processing rate in Vietnam, India and Brazil. Brue suggested that all African cashew nuts production countries establish cashew nuts processing industry and improve competitiveness for product export.
