In accordance with the weekly report of Buenos Aires Grains Exchange released on Aug. 29, the seeding of sunflower seeds in Argentina is proceeding slowly.

As of Aug. 28, 2014, the seeding rate of sunflower seeds in the entire country is 15.2%, and is 12.5% a week earlier, increasing 3% than that in the same period last year.

The report shows that according to the local weather conditions and weekly data, if the sunflower seeds producing area is still of little rainfall, the area of north planting area may be lower than the level predicted earlier. However, the seeding area in Buenos Aires and Lapan Ba may increase, in favor of offsetting the reduction of north planting area.

Ministry of Agriculture of Argentina predicts that the sunflower seeds seeding area in 2014/15 will reach 1.4 million ha.
