According to the weekly report released by Buenos Aires Cereal Exchange, as of September 25, Argentina had completed the planting of 20.7% sunflower seeds 2014/15, an increased of 0.2% compared with that last week and a decline of 0.4% compared to the same time last year.
The report shows that the farmers have planted 280,090 hectares of sunflower seeds, slightly higher than the 278,000 hectares of a week ago. The farmers from the south of Buenos Aires and La Pampa are making preparation for plough. The best sowing time begins in early October.
The Exchange currently forecasts that the Argentine sunflower seed will cover an area of 1.35 million hectares in 2014 and 2015, lower than last year's 1.48 million hectares. It forms the minimum area over the five years.
