In accordance with the report issued by Buenos Aires Corn Exchange, Argentina, via the serious analysis of nationwide sown area of sunflower seeds, the Exchange decides to reduce the area of sunflower seeds to 1.3 million hectare in the year of 2014/15, which is 50,000 hectare lower than the earlier expected value, and 12% lower than the 1.48 million of 2013/14.

The report shows that the reason of reducing the nationwide sown area is that rainfall is deficient in northeast part, resulting in less sown area than earlier expectation in such area.

By the week of November 6, the sowing of sunflower seed in Argentina for the year of 2014/15 has been completed for 62%, which is 51.1% of last week and 18.7% lower than the same period of last year; the last week fell 10.3% year-on-year.

The report shows that so far farmers have sowed for 805,350 hectare of sunflower seeds, which is higher than the 689,950 hectare of last week.
