According to the Russian media report on November 6, Mikhail Anshakov, head of the Society for the Protection of Consumers, said at a press conference that the average price of Russian food will be increased by 20% before the end of the year. And Anshakov thought that the Russian consumers are not able to purchase food with nutrient substance after price rising.
Anshakov addressed that people now can truly feel the influence of sanction, because previously what Russians consumed are “summer reserves”. And when Russia starts to import commodities for winter reserves as usual, the sharp rise and shortage of some kinds of food would arise before the end of the autumn.
Being affected by Ukraine crisis, the U.S. and other western countries announced the implementation of several rounds of economic sanctions to Russia in multi-fields, including energy, finance, trades, national defense, etc. The sanctions have provoked an outcry of Russia; subsequently, Russia launches counter-sanction measures, restricting the import of commodities, such as food, vegetables and fruits, meat, etc., which brought EU huge economic shocks.
