The African Newspaper reports that, although the international market has a great demand of cashew nut, rice and other crops, Tanzania productivity is limited, which can’t meet the current international demand.

The director of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Tanzania expresses that the Middle East has a stable demand of cashew nut, with a monthly demand up to 75 containers; however even the largest cashew nut processing factory in Tanzania can only supply two containers per month. Other crops such as rice also face similar situation.

In recent years, the traditional crop export of Tanzania has been kept unchanged fundamentally. Tanzania government will remain committed to help farmers increase crop output.
