2014’ Guinea Bissau’s Illegal Cashew Export Loss is About USD 60 Million

In 2014’Guinea Bissau cashew export strategy seminar, Jeronimo Martins, the economy and the finance minister of Guinea Bissau stressed that 2014’illegal cashew export loss is about USD 60 million. Jeronimo Martins expressed that in 2015’cashew season, the government shall strengthen the export supervision to meet the legitimate rights and interests of stakeholders, such as planting farmers, intermediaries, exporters and the government.

  During the two-day seminar, the participants had drafted the proposal to suggest the government to reduce the cashew export taxes. The proposal also advises the government to reduce checkpoint; strengthen government supervision, improve rural roads, etc.

  2014’ Guinea Bissau original cashew fruit export is136584 tons, with the revenues of USD 137 million.
