On December 16, EU Commission published the decision of approving to make clostridium butyricum (CBM 588) as a new food material to put on market, and it also specified its application specifications and indicators.
The clostridium butyricum (CBM 588) is a kind of gram-positive bacterium, sporulation anaerobic bacteria, avirulence, and non-GMO bacteria. Its status is white or light gray tablet, which has peculiar smell and sweet.
When it is made as a new food material for food supplement, its maximum dose is 1.35X108CFU/day, which shall still meet the relevant requirement of 2002/46/EC.
