Canada Proposed to Include 3 Food Enzymes in Food Additives

Canada released a notification (No. G/SPS/N/CAN/904) in December 2014, to announce the modification of List of Permitted Food Enzymes. This notification proposed to enable the use of cellulase, glucanase and xylanase obtained from Rasamsoniaemersonii as food enzymes in brewers’ mash. Health Canada's Food Directorate has completed a detailed safety assessment of these three enzymes. This modification of List of Permitted Food Enzymes will take effect in December 3rd, 2014. The final date for comments is February 15th, 2015.
