“Before December 24th, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the approval of use of advantame as a food additive again”, the United States Federal Register reported.  

According to this report, since the release of a final rule which approves the use of advantame, the FDA had received some objection. However, after reviewing, the objection was found lacking of foundation to modify or withdraw this final rule.

Therefore, the FDA reaffirmed the use of advantame as a non-nutritive sweetener for food (excluding meat and poultry).
