According to the report issued by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Food and Drug Administration is required to take additional approaches to support overseas offices on the security of imported foodstuff. It has been warned that the examination of FDA is in no conformance with foreign foodstuff facility number required by the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

As the reply, FDA agreed to launch the analysis. It believes that the implementation of foreign examination specifies the responsibilities and obligations of companies to the inspected companies to facilitate them complying with the importation requirements of USA as well as acquire information concerning foreign food security. Officers, however, believe that the implementation of foreign examination is incompetent to ensure the security of imported and domestic foods. The FDA is extending its cooperation with foreign authorities in order to accomplish its purpose.
