Corn yield in East Africa declined by 30% this year

East Africa Cereal Commission warned that the corn yield in East Africa decline by 30% this year as a result of adverse weather condition and Maize lethal necrosis. The corn yield in Kenya is expected to decrease from 3.6million ton in 2014 to 2.52 million ton, the corn yield of Uganda is expected to decrease from 2.7 million ton to 1.9 million ton, the corn yield of Rwanda is expected to decrease from 480 thousand ton last year to 336 thousand ton. The corn planting of Tanzania farmers this season slacked as well.
