USA Recalls Vietnamese LP Cashews

According to news from FDA, recently, FDA posted press release that the Hemisphere Group, Inc. recalls a kind of nut products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The product recalled is “Vietnamese LP Cashew Kernels”; net weight: 50 Ibs; Packer: Hong Duc Company Limited; FDA No.: 16153193186; Hemisphere Code No. P95497.


Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis and courbature. Hemisphere has not received any reports of illnesses to date.


At present FDA is cooperating with Hemisphere to carry out an investigation on causes of contamination. Consumers are urged not to consume the affected lot of Vietnamese Cashew Kernels. Consumers who have purchased the affected lot of Vietnamese Cashew Kernels are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
