The United Arab Emirates intends to implement more stringent food import management system, peanut, sesame, etc. will face more specific provisions

Recently the United Arab Emirates National Food Safety Commission intends to perform more stringent food import management system, namely all imported food must have electronic registration and safety assessment, and then obtain import license before entering the market. If the imported food is found unfit for consumption, the goods will be returned to the exporter, suppliers must provide the assurance that those unqualified goods should not be shipped back to Dubai. For shrimp, peanuts, sesame, and other foods that may cause allergic will have more specific provisions. Those kinds of food should be sampled at the port; otherwise they can not enter the market.


Dubai City Hall Food Manager Khalid said that Dubai has begun to implement this system, when all the food arrived in Dubai, tests and document verification should be completed. This Department has completed 94% of the federal food safety objectives set by the Federal Department of environment and water resources.
