It is reported by Guinea-Bissau news agency that, the president Imbaro of Ministry of Trade and Handicraft of Guinea-Bissau expressed that cashew nuts export has reached more than 60,000 tons so far.

Imbaro stated that although cashew nuts production in this year is lower than last year, the government is confident in that export of this year will exceed 200,000 tons as expected. Imbaro hopes that farmers do not hesitate anymore and should positively conduct cashew nut trade, for the reason that the current purchasing price of 670-1000 FCFA per kg is higher than previous years.

Cashew nut is one of the main exporting commodities of Guinea-Bissau. Total export of last year was 136,584 tons, which contributed USD 137 million for Guinea-Bissau national treasury.
