According to report of “Financial Times” of Ghana, the director of Ghana department of trade and industry has said that the government of Ghana will take remedial measures to promote processing industry of cashew industry and will prohibit export of raw materials of cashew if necessary. Cote D’lvoire started to prohibit export of raw materials of cashew nut since 2013; what’s worse, most of raw materials of Ghana have been exported to cause insufficient supply in the domestic and sharp increase in the price of raw materials.

Therefore, 11 processing enterprises of cashew nut in Ghana have been collapsed and only one enterprise is still producing but its output is far less than its capacity. The processing enterprises of cashew nut in Ghana said that export volume of cashew nuts after processing can reach USD 0.1 billion every year, but export of raw materials is just USD 56 million, processing industry of cashew nut in Ghana has huge potentiality, which can increase additional value, earn foreign exchange through exports and can also boost local employment, so they hope the government will take measures to save this industry.
