Under the joint promotion of all parties of USA Pecan
Growers Association, USDA will issue federal pecan sales regulations soonest in
2016. The regulation will improve selling price of US pecans while improve
foreign and domestic sales volume. This regulation is greatly supported by
Pecan Association of Georgia. Georgia is the largest production place of pecans
in USA. The average annual output is 8800 pound and output valve is about 9000
USD.
Thomas L. Mason, the Chairman of Pecan Growers Association said the primary goal of the regulation is to effectively improve the sales volume of pecans in domestic and foreign markets. Other nuts, such as pistachio nuts and almonds, benefited from implementation of sales regulations for specific varieties, can realize the objective of sales increase by joint promotion of same varieties of nuts. The federal almond sales regulation was issued in 1950s. The regulation helped the sales volume of almond, far lower than that of pecan industry, leap greatly. As said by person in charge of USA Pecan Growers Association, nowadays, the sales volume of USA almonds is as 33 times as that in 1960s, while the sales volume of pecans still holds the line.
