Japan Revised the Residual Pesticide and Veterinary Drug Standard in Food

On September 18, 2015, the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare issued SAF 0918 No. 1 Announcement to revise residual pesticide and veterinary drug in food. The main points are as follows:

1. According to provisions of Article 10 of the Food Hygiene Law, add 1-methylnaphthalene in the Attached Table 1 of implementation regulations of the Food Hygiene Law.

2. According to provisions of item 1 of Article 11 of the Food Hygiene Law, prepare standards of residual quizalofop-p-ethyl ester and other 11 kinds of pesticides and 3-benzenedisulfonamide and other 4 kinds of veterinary drugs in food; make clorsulon test analysis substance for 3-benzenedisulfonamide; establish the clorsulon test method, and correct the component standard of the set 1-methylnaphthalene.

3. The announcement will take effect since the date of release.
