On October, 7, KFDA in South Korea issued South Korea Issuing Administrative Foreshow for Amendment Plan of Rules to Implement Special Law on Safety Management of Import Food. Its main contents cover:

1. To ensure timeliness of the statute, execution time period for relevant statute concerning safety of import food is cut to three months from the former six months following the prevalent Food Hygiene Law.

2.  To circumvent fraud of consumers, the statute will further reinforce tampering of administrative penalty norms on actual weight through ice film of CHW products. It shall impose administrative penalty including two-month-long business halt for first time offender and abrogation of business license for second time offender involving such acts as mixing of lead weight, ice cube and agar in frozen seafood in order to falsify actual weight or price norms.
