On Jan. 29, 2016, AVA released Food Regulations 2016
Revised Edition and required all importers complying with the regulations. The
Food Regulations 2016 Revised Edition will be implemented from Feb. 2, 2016.
Main contents of Food Regulations 2016 Revised Edition are: (1) the product
must be certified by inspection and certification system before pasting “Organic” (or
similar terminologies) to products, and such system must comply with
requirements of codes and standards for organic product production, processing,
labeling and sales; (2) the Advantame allowed in food shall be produced
according to favorable production standards; and (3) allow using bovine
lactoferrin in infant formula, and set a maximum limit of 100mg/100ml. In
addition, the Food Regulations 2016 Revised
Edition also contains: to prohibit importing and selling raw milk for direct
drinking; mark “modified starch” on label of products using “modified
starch”.
