On August 16th 2016, Egypt government issued an announcement coded G/TBT/N/EGY/162, which said that it will abolish the ministerial decree standards No. 139, the pesticide maximum residue limit, and enforce the requirement of maximum residue limits specified in the codex of pesticide residue limit issued by Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC). If a certain kind of produce is not included in the codex, relevant maximum residue limits issued by European Commission will be applied, and if European Commission has not such relevant rules and regulations, maximum residue limits requirements issued by the United States Environment Protection Agency will be applied. The most relevant requirements for such kind of produce specified in the above rules will be applied if there are no requirements for pesticide maximum residue limits stipulated in produce in them.
