The total sales of pistachios in California were nearly 12,618 tons in July 2016, an increase of 47.6% compared with 8574 tons of last July. The overall sales were driven by the export performance, but it still substantially dropped 23.3%, compared with last year’s 150,901 tons.

The total yield of pistachios in California was 124,644 tons during 2015/16 season, and there is an inventory of 61,633 tons. Thanks to favorable growing environment, the yield of pistachios there is expected to reach between 200,000 and 300,000 tons this year. People currently take a wait-and-see attitude for pistachio purchase in the market. The market is waiting for Paramount, a tycoon in California’s pistachio market, to publish its price and take action accordingly.
