In the past
three years, pine nut industry in Russia’s
Tomsk region
has already brought local investors nearly 9,4 million dollars. According to
Sergey Zhvachkin, governor of this state, the number also demonstrates future
prospects and opportunities of Russian pine nut industry for foreign and
domestic investors and entrepreneurs.
Tomsk region now has about
3,5 million hectares of cedar forest which covers nearly two thirds of the
whole region. Annual pine nut yield is between 8000 and 10000 tones which is
nearly half of the whole Siberia’s pine nut
yield. 20 pine processors built over 300 storage centers at the producing area
and hired a lot of local employees and picking farmers. Siberia Nut Company
said that 785 thousand dollars will be put into productivity promotion and
expansion of current cedar candy product line at the end of this year. Current
monthly yield can reach 270-300 tons and it is expected that it will increase
to 320-350 tons.
