According to the information on
the food navigation website, the Indian government issued the administrative
provisions for the fortified food recently to improve the national nutritional
level and strengthen the supervision on the fortified food.
According to the latest requirements, the
government approval is needed if the manufacturing enterprises of the fortified
flour, edible oil, milk and salt product want to publish the nutrition claims.
The Indian government expressed that the government
supervision is needed for the future production of the fortified food, such as
the campus lunch, public distribution system.
The manufacturing enterprise needs to
provide the quality guarantee certificate and food safety measures adopted. The
product test needs to be conducted in the laboratory approved by the
government.
According to the information, Food Safety
and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued the guide with regard to
the minimum or maximum content of the vitamin, iodine, folic acid and other
nutritional ingredients involved in the fortified food.
Administrative Provisions on the Labeling of Fortified Food published this time will replace the current
administrative provisions related to the fortified food. However, the infant
milk formula and other infant food are exempted from the requirements of the Administrative
Provisions.
