The Guinean
government has planned to focus on developing the cashew nut planting industry
in the new year and set the strategic goal of “Planting up to 300,000 hectares
of cashew nuts”. Jacqueline Sultan, the Guinean Secretary of Agriculture,
expressed that the Guinean government has planned to focus on developing the
cashew nut planting industry with the goal of planting up to 1,000,000 hectares
of cashews by 2020. At present, the short-term goal is to plant 300,000
hectares of cashews within this year.
According
to the investigation results of Agricultural Research Institute of Guinea in
2013, the average output of the Guinean cashew nuts was less than 10,000 tons. Nowadays,
the Guinean government has planned to make the output as 6 times of such figure
in the next few years.
