The Mexico
coffee has been subject to the influences of the rust disease. To improve the
earnings of local planters in recent years, Mexico will make the macadamia nut
replace the coffee planting.
The
geographical environment and climate of Huauchinango
State, Tlapacoya
State, Xicotepec
State and Zihuateutla
State are suitable for the macadamia
nut planting and the production of macadamia nut in Mexico has obtained the relatively
good development opportunity. Especially in the coffee planting region in Puebla State,
the macadamia nut has become the second largest commercial crop with the
planting area as 543 hectares and the output value as up to 11,200 pesos per
ton.
At
present, the largest consumer groups of macadamia nut are Asia, U.S.A. and Mexico. The Mexican government is
formulating policies to support the development of the macadamia nut industry.
