Vietnam Cashew Nut Association said that Vietnam's import of cashew nut from abroad has grown rapidly along with the increasing cashew nut processing enterprises and rapid enhancement of deep processing capacity.In 2016, Vietnam mainly imported 1,060,000 tons of cashew nut raw materials from Africa. Of which, the import amount from the Ivory Coast was 422, 000 tons with the year-on-year growth as 40%, accounting for 45% of the total import amount. Other countries from which Vietnam imported the cashew nuts were Nigeria, Benin, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, etc. successively.In the meantime, the export market of Vietnam’s cashew nut product is expanding constantly and the export amount is growing significantly therewith.In 2016, the total amount of cashew nut raw materials processed by Vietnam was 1,500,000 tons. The raw materials provided by Vietnam itself was only 475,000 tons, thus it needed to import two thirds of the raw materials.
