Currently, there
are 33 cashew nut processing plants in Mozambique, and two of them re closed
due to technical reasons. In order to ensure the plant’s of raw material supply,
the processing enterprises usually begin acquisition of raw cashew nuts in the
fourth quarter of each year.
MAHOMED YUNUSS,
the chairman of Mozambique Cashew Nut Industry Federation expressed that: The cashew
nut industry only employed 12000 staff in last year. Mozambique cashew nut processing
capacity has been increased this year, which means that the industry employees will
be increased; people’s life quality will be improved, and the government’s
fiscal revenue sources will be broadened.
The cashew nut acquisition activity was begun in Oct. 2016; the cashew nut purchasing price was 80 meticais per kilogram, which was reduced to 50 meticais per kilogram in Dec. The areas with the largest cashew nut output in Mozambique are followings in turn: Nampula Province, Cabo Delgado Province, Zambezia Province, Inhambane Province and Sofala Province.
