Recently, the Global Macadamia Growers’ Association released 2016 industry data report.

1  Total output of unshelled macadamia nuts of global macadamia industry

In 2016, the global macadamia nuts output is 175,000t (unshelled, water content of 3.5%), close to that in 2015.

2  Situations of main producing area

Main producing areas of macadamia nuts are Australia, South Africa, Kenya and America. The total value of output in these places of origin reaches 75% of global output value. Output in Australia and America respectively increases 8% and 9%. However, due to serious drought, output in South America dropped 17%. Output in emerging producing areas including China is about 12% of total unshelled output.

3  Total sales volume

According to international statistical data collected by INC, sales of unshelled macadamia nuts in 2016 is about 20-25% of global output, about 40250t; total sales of nuts reaches 9673t. Sales in Australian and Japanese markets are large, respectively increasing 4% and 8%, and accounting for 53% of total sales.

4   Prediction of unshelled nuts output

Since it is still the beginning of 2017, unshelled output in 2017 will increase 5%-7.5%, reaching 185,000-190,000t (unshelled, water content of 3.5%).
