According to news of Vietnam Macadamia Association, the export volume of cashew nuts in Vietnam in 2017 is expected to reach USD 3Billion, increasing USD 160 Million year on year.

Currently, the nationwide cashew nut plantation area is about 300,000ha., concentrated in Ping Fu, Dong Nai and Ba Ria Vung Tau. As estimated, the amount of raw material cashew nuts for export processing is 550,000t. However, the complicated weather has seriously affected cashew output. Thus, the output of cashew nuts in this year is only 300,000t, 150,000t lower than that in the previous year, and 150,000t lower than the expected amount.

In order to realize the target of USD 3 Billion export volume, many cashew nuts processing enterprises have proposed measures for importing 200,000t raw material nuts.

Statistical data of Vietnam Macadamia Association show in 2016 the processing and export volume of cashew nuts reached 348,000t, earned USD 2.8 Billion foreign exchange; the export volume of deep processing cashew nuts and cashew shell oil reached USD 200 Million, accounting for nearly 10% of total export volume.

The cashew nut processing output in Vietnam in 2016 created a new record, reaching 1.5mt. Meanwhile, stable market and rising export price make export volume of cashew nut in 2016 increase 19.1% than that in 2015.

From 2006, Vietnam has always been the largest cashew nut processing and export country in the world, accounting for 28% of global cashew nut processing volume and 42% of cashew nut export volume. Currently, USA, the Netherlands and China are still the largest importer of Vietnam cashew nuts.
