In Cambodia,
after shortage in the entire cashew nut industry in the last year, the cashew
nut price currently rises 30%. Moreover, the cashew nuts will not be harvested
comprehensively in Cambodia by the beginning of next month.
Except
output reduction, Cambodia lacked investment in technology and equipment for
cashew nut processing, leading to high harvest cost. This is also one of the
factors causing price rise.
The president of local cashew association
mentioned the price of local raw cashew nuts has risen up to about 8500 riel
(approximately $2.12) per kg, while the price in the previous year was 6500riel
($1.6) per kg.
