According to Financial Daily of Romania on April 14, data released by State Bureau of Statistics shows the sunflower seed output in 2016 reached 1.95mt, ranking the first in EU, in which export volume is 1.18mt, accounting for 60% of total output. In the same period, the total planting area of sunflower in Romania is about 1 million ha.; with unit price of about 350 Euro per ton, the total output reaches 680 Million Euro.

In 2016, the export volume of Romania sunflower seed oil is 104 Million Euro, 2.7 times higher than the import volume, which is 37Million Euro. It realized trade surplus of 66.5 Million Euro.
