The California walnut shipment in March 2017 reached 59198t, increasing 17% than the 48947t in 2016.

In terms of years, from Sep. 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017, the overall shipment of California walnut is 525986t, increasing 24.89% than the 421139t in the previous year.

2: California walnut output and price trend

As of March 31, the actual output of California walnut shall be 680041t, while the output in the same period in the previous year was 603000t.

Processors believe if current shipment trend is kept continuously, the inventory in the end of August will only leave 30000t, as half as the inventory in the previous year.

Price of California walnut rises continuously, and price of walnut nut is high as well. India market is prominent this year. The market demand in March this year is 1200% than the entire year. They mainly order unshelled walnuts.

The market demand of Chile walnut is large, too. Demands from the Middle East, Turkey and Europe keep improving market demand. Processing factories almost receive all orders for May and June. Currently, both quality and output of Chile walnut are favorable. The final output may be between 90000-100000t.
